Peter,

Thanks for posting this.

"The Science Of Getting Rich" is one of my favourite "success" texts and it's instructive to me that you recommend this book and the lessons it contains.

Best wishes for a successful 2009!

Kevin,

I swear there are no accidents!

I'm looking over a couple of paragraphs written by Eckhart Tolle, wondering if I should post them -- and if anyone would connect with his material. Your comment chimed in to answer the question.

So thank you and here are his words plus a little background.

Coaching sold out. I didn't actively sell it, I simply mentioned that I was available. I think it was the next day that a former client emailed me and in a subsequent phone call, booked all of my available time to coach him. He hadn't read my post. It was "just a coincidence."

Eckhart Tolle: "We are also learning that action, although necessary, is only a secondary factor in manifesting our external reality. The primary factor in creation is consciousness. No matter how active we are, how much effort we make, our state of consciousness creates our world, and if there is no change on that inner level, no amount of action will make any difference. We would only re-create modified versions of the same world again and again, a world that is an external reflection of the ego."

Several pages later he continues; "Not what you do, but how you do what you do determines whether you are fulfilling your destiny. And how you do what you do is determined by your state of consciousness."

The message of both Wattles and Tolle is the same, although Tolle's writings offer contemporary language and extraordinarily sharp, detailed articulation of a pretty esoteric subject.

Thanks for answering my questions over posting these quotes. (-:

Peter,

You've prompted me to take a look at Tolle's work. Of course, I've heard about him but never read any of his books. "The Power Of Now" the best place to start?

Interesting the quote about "action". Saw the same sort of idea expressed in a different way in the sales letter for Eben Pagan's personal productivity program. The point being that the aim is not "time management" but rather managing ourselves to achieve what we want. Success is first created in the mind and then action is taken to manifest that vision.

Thanks again for the post!

"The Power of Now" is very well written. "A New Earth..." is a simplified version of "TPON" and leans toward applying the philosophy in everyday life.

I believe both are out in audiobook format.

Oprah and Eckhart spent 10 weeks webcasting a discussion of "A New Earth." (One chapter per week). By the way, she reported over 40 million actions on her website as a result. (That's list building)!

Thanks for asking, Kevin.
